COM-B Model Template

The COM-B model is a widely recognized framework in behavioral science, emphasizing three essential components: Capability, Opportunity, and Motivation. It offers a structured method for understanding behavior change by examining the interplay among these elements. Capability pertains to an individual's psychological and physical capacity to perform a behavior, encompassing knowledge, skills, and physical abilities. Opportunity includes external factors such as environmental and social cues that either facilitate or obstruct behavior. Lastly, Motivation relates to the psychological processes that energize and direct behavior towards goal achievement, encompassing desires, intentions, and beliefs.

By analyzing these components, the COM-B model enables researchers and practitioners to identify specific barriers and facilitators to behavior change in various contexts. This understanding informs the creation of tailored interventions aimed at promoting sustainable behavior change, ensuring that strategies are relevant and effective in addressing the unique challenges faced by individuals or organizations.
